Sustainable development
at SIEGL
Launched at the start of 2009, the SIEGL sustainable development strategy is built around a system that integrates diagnosis and an action plan: the SD 21000.
This strategy, which is a genuine corporate project driven on a daily basis by a number of dedicated working groups, targets two main objectives:
- Design new buildings intended to ensure maximum integration into the landscape
- Ensure a balanced consumption of natural resources: put in place a wastewater treatment system enabling part of this water to be reused, manage energy consumption, and acquire a new, higher performing and more energy-efficient washing machine (energy recovery from hot water).
- Reduce and process waste.
- Improve water and energy consumption
- Protect biodiversity via the management of green open spaces
- Renew our machine park to include higher performing and more energy-efficient innovative technologies.
- Promote product eco-design in partnership with our clients and suppliers
- Perform a carbon audit
- Reduce water pollution
- Install a waster water treatment lagoon
- Integrate sustainable development criteria into procurement
- Reuse paper and ensure that all correspondence is done using environmentally responsible paper
- Adopt an ecological policy for in-house communications
- Establish a clear and transparent two-way flow of communications.
- Create a healthy social dialogue involving all participants within the company
- Ensure that information is meaningful and create networks: define an in-house communications process.
- Forge links with the external world: National Open Door events, links with local authorities, etc
- Professional support for those who manufacture or are involved in the manufacture of our products:
. Encourage vocational training
. Integrate disabled workers into the workplace and maintain them in employment (adaptation of job posts)
. Seek partnerships with integration companies (ESAT-Work Support Establishments or Services, etc.)
. Create relationships of trust with those suppliers and clients that share our values
- Raise awareness in our staff about the need to preserve biodiversity: set up a fortnightly market, manage green open spaces, implement one-off initiatives during sustainable development week, etc.
